Alarm System Registration
|
Registration of home alarm systems is required by city ordinance. Alarm systems are to be registered within 30 days of installation or assuming charge of a system from a previous resident. There is a one-time $25 alarm permit fee for registration. You can view alarm safety information on the website by going to the Permits & Licenses folder under the Document Center, and choosing "Alarm Safety Tips".

When the police respond to an alarm, they check each door and window to ensure no entry has been made. If the home is secured, the officer leaves after the building check is complete. If an open door or window is found, police enter to ensure no one is inside. The home is then secured if possible and the officer leaves. If a crime has been committed, police attempt to notify a responsible person.
