Arborist and Park Coordinator

The City of Mission Hills is currently seeking applicants for the position of City Arborist and Park Coordinator.  This full-time position is responsible for a comprehensive urban forestry program including programmed maintenance and reforestation and updating our tree inventory data as needed.  This position also: reviews and coordinates all tree related activities within the City, prepares and administers contracts for specialized forestry work as well as maintenance contracts for right-of-way tree maintenance, educates and works with utility crews, periodically reviews and recommends changes to the City’s tree ordinances, serves as staff support to the Park Board, administers the Stormwater Environmental Grant Program, consults with residents on their private trees, evaluates and monitors tree protection plans, and represents the City at state and regional forestry meetings.   Must have thorough knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs and experience with ArcGIS is preferred (to maintain inventory data). Five years of related education and work experience.  College degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or Park Administration, or related field preferred.
