Bill Bruning has served on the City Council since 2017 and previously served on the Architectural Review Board and Planning Commission and as president of the Tomahawk Road Homes Association. He believes that during his 14 years in Mission Hills the City has been well run and his goal is to help maintain this continuity. He notes particularly the City’s success in accommodating changes in building patterns while maintaining its natural and architectural beauty, through the collaborative efforts of the City Council, citizen boards and professional staff.
Bill, a health care and real estate attorney, holds BS, MBA, and law degrees from The University of Kansas. He chairs the advisory boards of UMKC’s Department of Architecture, Urban Planning + Design and the American Psychiatric Association’s Center for Workplace Mental Health . Active in the community, he has previously served as chair or president of Truman Medical Center, REACH Healthcare Foundation, Kansas City Landmarks Commission, and the University of Kansas Natural History Museum.
